Police reported they were contacted by a individual who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.

City officials said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for tips.

An important representative commented the vandalism left him without words and had to be resolved quickly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
